Branding for the fictional city of Thekla from Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities. Thekla is a city that is constantly rebuilding itself, surrounding its buildings with new scaffolding every day for fear that the city would otherwise crumble. In the pursuit of branding this city, I created a poster of events and a voter registration card that reflect the city’s perpetual state of reconstruction. The printed materials expose their grids on the surface, with superfluous lines and rules that suggest that the layout itself is under construction. Google Earth images of contemporary cities demonstrates our society’s need to always be changing and improving parallel to Thekla.
